After a weeks hard work and preparation, including about 8 hours of painting, I am finally finished my abstract painting project.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am a huge movie buff. I have always been inspired by film, whether it be by the characters themselves, the acting, or the general idea of the movie. Most of my art practice is inspired by people, real or fictional, and can be a direct or indirect portrait of their ideas or selves. Film allows me to find new inspiration everyday for whatever mood I’m in. I compiled a list of movies that I felt I would have a strong emotional connection with and chose three. Each of these paintings represents a specific film which I sat down in front of and painted while I watched. I had never seen any of these movies so each colour and brushstroke I painted was instinctive as opposed to planned. I am extremely pleased with how these pieces turned out and I’m looking forward to making a lot more.
The movies are shown in the order:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Little Miss Sunshine -
